THANK YOU!

Tremendous thanks to SGE friends, families, and staff who contributed countless volunteer hours to make the 2024 Fall Carnival a memorable event for our scholars! And special thanks to our title sponsor, Bobby Sisk Homes! We couldn't have done it without each and every one of you!

INVEST In Your School!

We are halfway to our Family INVEST Goal of raising $25,000... and to our SGE Leadership Team recording a special dance video!

If you haven’t donated yet, please give today. Without your generosity, we wouldn't be able to provide important funding for field trips, classroom supplies, staff appreciation meals, events like the dance and movie night, and so much more!

Our goal is 100% family participation. By joining this campaign with your monetary donation, you can help SGE continue to be a positive and engaging learning environment for our scholars.

DONATE NOW!
Important Updates!

PENNY WARS ENDS TOMORROW!

Remember that Penny Wars ends tomorrow! Donation jars are outside the cafeteria. 100% of money raised by SGE scholars & families will be donated to Hurricane Helene relief for our neighbors in Western North Carolina. Thank you for your support!

SGE PUMPKIN DECORATING CONTEST

The annual SGE Great Pumpkin Decorating Contest deadline is approaching. Remember to send in painted (acrylic works great!) pumpkins to Mr. Steele by 8:00am on Monday, October 21st. Categories include Scary, Humorous and Whimsical. We can't wait!

BOO!GRAMS

The 5th graders will be selling Boo!Grams for $1 each all next week in the lobby before school (October 21st to 25th, 7:30-8:00am). Scholars can buy this friendly ghost lollipop for a friend, a teacher, or themselves. Families can also sponsor an entire classroom for only $25!

New this year: Skip the line and buy your Boo!Grams online! All grams will be delivered on October 31st. Contact Nicole Joseph if you can help with the sale. All proceeds will directly support the fifth grade field trip.

Volunteer Needs

FRIDAY CLUBS: WE STILL NEED VOLUNTEERS!

Starting in November, Clubs will meet every other Friday during school hours and provide an incredible opportunity for our scholars to learn a new craft, hobby, or topic. We are still short on volunteers this year! Check out this flyer to learn more. If you can help in any way, please email Jenny Moros, Parent Club Leader, or Ms. Miller, School Club Leader.

LUCKY'S LIBRARY

Lucky's Library (a magical place!) is visited by scholars who have read certain total minutes at home and can select a book to keep as a reward for reading. It is typically open Tuesdays through Thursdays from 7:30-8:00am and is staffed by parent volunteers. Please check out the available dates to volunteer, as we'd love to get coverage through December! It's the perfect volunteer opportunity to knock out before work or an otherwise busy day!

MORE VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

There are plenty of opportunities to get involved and support SGE. Visit our website to learn more about Heart Math Tutoring, Helping Hands, Thursday folders, Lucky Dads, and more! Remember to register at cmsvolunteers.com so you're set for the school year.

Treat Yourself and SGE!

Fall Picture Day

SGE Fall Pictures will be taken by Metro Portraits on Tuesday, October 29th for all scholars Pre-K through 5th. This is a uniform-free day; scholars should come picture-ready!

If you can help check in scholars during picture day, please contact Ms. Miller! We need two volunteers present between 8:30am-12:30pm, and shifts can be split 8:30-10:30am and 10:30am-12:30pm.

After pictures are processed, Metro Portraits will send links to view and purchase pictures. Families will order directly from Metro Portraits. Make-up pictures will be taken on November 13th.

Save the Date: Movie Night!

Save the date! SGE Movie Night will feature the movie IF on Friday, November 15th, at 6:00pm, on the blacktop at the school. The PTA is again sponsoring this event so it can be free for all Shamrock scholars and their families.

(in case you missed it)

  • Remember to update your profile in Membership Toolkit so your scholars are linked with their current grades and teachers. This will help ensure you receive relevant updates from us! Visit shamrockpta.org and click LOGIN in the upper right corner. Click your name and then "Click here if you are trying to update your directory information." Follow the prompts to verify your information. On the Student Information page, select the correct teacher name in the Classroom Teacher dropdown. Click save, and you are done!
  • Are you confused about all the acronyms? LI/TD, PTA, CoGAT, etc.? You're not the only one! The SGE PTA website includes a glossary that will help demystify these terms and many others for you. (No cap...)

  • After-school activities: A number of excellent organizations are partnering with SGE to provide voluntary after-school programs for our scholars. See more information here! We've included a chart of potential available activities, the days of the week they are held, and which grades are eligible to participate.

  • Visitor check-in: All visitors on campus (including basketball game attendees, after-school activity participants/volunteers, landscape workers, etc.) must sign in through the visitor check-in system, LobbyGuard, to be accounted for. This is a CMS security requirement. Visitors can save time by becoming a CMS volunteer in advance. Driver's licenses are required for adults.

  • Support SGE every day! Buy spirit wear, rent the rock, and earn while you shop.
