'Tis the Season
Holiday Gifts for Staff - Optional!

As a courtesy to SGE families, the PTA facilitates money collection for staff holiday gifts. Giving is completely optional. ALL money collected will be divided evenly among all SGE teachers and staff. Cards for each gift will be signed: “Happy Holidays! Love, the SGE families.” Because this is a group gift from all Shamrock families, no individual contributor names will be listed.

To contribute to this group gift, you can send money in one of the following ways by Friday, December 13th:
1. Electronically through the PTA website via our secure holiday giving link.
2. Cash/Check drop off to the PTA mailbox at the school. (The front desk can direct you to the mailbox if needed.) Please include "Holiday Gifts" in the memo.

The SGE team means a lot to us, and this extra holiday money means a lot to our SGE team, so this is a great opportunity to show our appreciation. Thank you in advance for your contributions! And you are always welcome to additionally or instead send personal gifts, homemade cards, etc. to teachers and staff.

Holiday Treat

Now through December 31st, head to WaveMAX Laundry (2915 The Plaza) for your laundry needs! One of our Shamrock parents is running a promotion for SGE families. Just mention Shamrock, and you'll receive 10% off wash, dry, and fold services. At the end of the month, WaveMAX will donate 5% of the proceeds back to the school!

Visit WaveMAX's website to learn more about their wash-dry-fold service. The service normally costs $1.25 per pound. Premium options are also available for a maximum of $1.60 per pound. Could be a nice treat during the holiday season for busy parents!

Volunteer Needs

BOOK FAIR
Our annual book fair, sponsored by Khali Yoga Center, will run from December 6th through 13th (full details below in Featured Events). We need volunteers to help direct scholars to their next best read (or pencil topper) before and after school. Sign up to volunteer here! There's also a super sweet yoga giveaway taking place for the grownups, courtesy of our sponsor. Enter to win three months of free yoga at Khali Yoga now!

LUCKY'S LIBRARY
At least one parent/guardian is needed each morning before school on Tuesdays through Thursdays to manage Lucky's Library and help scholars pick out free books. Lucky's Library (a magical place!) is visited by scholars who have read a certain amount of minutes each week and are eligible to select a book to keep as a reward for reading. It's the perfect volunteer opportunity to knock out before work or an otherwise busy day! Sign up here

MORE VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
There are plenty of opportunities to get involved and support SGE. Visit our website to learn more about Helping Hands, Heart Math Tutoring, Thursday folders, Lucky Dads, and more! Remember to register at cmsvolunteers.com so you're set for the school year.

Featured Events
First Friday: December 6th

Coffee with Principal Potter: Join Principal Potter and the PTA at 8:15am at the school. She'll discuss information at the state, district, and school level. Questions are always welcome.

Dress Down for FUNd: Scholars can make a donation of $2 or more to be uniform-free! You can also send in a lump sum to cover all ten Dress Down days (e.g., $2 x 10 = $20 for the year)! Pay online, or your scholar can bring cash.

Book Fair

Support SGE by shopping our in-person book fair, sponsored by Khali Yoga, for your scholar's next great read! Normal hours will be December 6th through 13th, 7:30-8:00am and 3:00-3:30pm daily. And on Thursday, December 12th, the book fair will be open 5:00-6:00pm so you can shop before the Winter Concert!

Visit scholastic.com/bf/SGE (SGE must be in caps) for more information and to set up a safe, cashless way for your kids to shop with an e-wallet!

Treat Yourself and SGE

On Saturday, December 7th, from 7:00-11:00am, join Shamrock families at Summit Coffee on the Plaza for Spirit Breakfast/Coffee. Mention SGE to have a percentage of your purchase benefit Shamrock. Win-win.

K-2 Winter Concert

Shamrock's K-2 Winter Concert will be held on Thursday, December 12th at 6:00pm at the school. Scholars are welcome to wear festive holiday attire that follows uniform guidelines and is appropriate for a school event.

All SGE families are invited. Only grades K-2 will be performing, but they have been practicing hard to make this a fun event for everyone!

School Improvement Team (SIT) Meeting

All SGE community members are welcome to attend the next SIT meeting on Wednesday, December 18th at 5:00pm, in the SGE Media Center (library). Be part of the development of the School Improvement Plan (SIP), and engage in decisions that impact all scholars.

The SIP and related materials, including SIT meeting agendas, can be found here (login username and password are both: guests7119).

(in case you missed it)

  • Are you confused about all the acronyms? LI/TD, PTA, CoGAT, etc.? You're not the only one! The SGE PTA website includes a glossary that will help demystify these terms and many others for you. (No cap...)
  • After-school activities: A number of excellent organizations are partnering with SGE to provide voluntary after-school programs for our scholars. See more information here! We've included a chart of potential available activities, the days of the week they are held, and which grades are eligible to participate.

  • Visitor check-in: All visitors on campus (including basketball game attendees, after-school activity participants/volunteers, landscape workers, etc.) must sign in through the visitor check-in system, LobbyGuard, to be accounted for. This is a CMS security requirement. Visitors can save time by becoming a CMS volunteer in advance. Driver's licenses are required for adults.

  • Support SGE every day! Buy spirit wear, rent the rock, and earn while you shop.
