HOLIDAY GIVING - THANK YOU!
Thanks to everyone's generosity to our money collection for staff holiday gifts, we were able to gift all our staff and teachers $80 each for the holidays. The staff and teachers were so grateful! We love seeing this community come together to celebrate and give back to each other.

Get ready to dance if you're wild about Shamrock! The SGE Winter Dance, sponsored by Sharpe Patel, PLLC, will be Friday, January 31st, 5:30-7:30pm in the SGE gymnasium. Wristbands will be $10 and will go on sale January 17th; we'll send a link at that time!

ATTENDANCE GUIDELINES:

Open to all SGE scholars (Pre-K through 5th grade)! No non-SGE siblings or friends.
Scholars must be accompanied by a parent/guardian; no drop-offs.
Due to fire code restrictions, only one (1) parent/guardian per scholar is allowed unless the second parent is volunteering.
Each parent/guardian should have charge of no more than four (4) scholars.

WINTER DANCE
Our annual winter dance will be on January 31st, and we need tons of helping hands to pull off a fun night for our scholars. Simply put, we can't do this without you! Please grab your spot TODAY. Sign up here.

LUCKY'S LIBRARY
At least one parent/guardian is needed each morning before school on Tuesdays through Thursdays to manage Lucky's Library and help scholars pick out free books. Lucky's Library (a magical place!) is visited by scholars who have read a certain amount of minutes each week and are eligible to select a book to keep as a reward for reading. It's the perfect volunteer opportunity to knock out before work or an otherwise busy day! Sign up here.

AFTER-SCHOOL ACTIVITIES
With the New Year comes new beginnings. If your scholar is looking for something new to try out after school—and you're looking for convenience—check out the after-school opportunities at Shamrock. Specifically, registration for the Spring P3 Soccer session is open now! Limelight Kids is also accepting new registrations. The Garden Club will open registration once parent volunteers are secured.

BENCHMARK AND I-READY TESTING
Benchmark and i-Ready testing will be held for all K-5 scholars from January 9th through January 22nd. Check your Parent Square messages from Ms. Gerst for specific dates/grade levels!

LUNCH DAYS FOR 2025
Starting January 15th, parents/guardians can eat lunch with their scholars on Wednesdays, Thursdays, or Fridays! SGE leaders hope adding an extra day will give some parents/guardians the flexibility they desire. We ask that families let teachers/staff have the first week of school to get scholars back into the groove of school expectations and routines before resuming lunch dates on the 15th.

First Friday: January 10th

Coffee with Principal Potter: Join Principal Potter and the PTA at 8:15am at the school. She'll discuss information at the state, district, and school level. Questions are always welcome.

Dress Down for FUNd: Scholars can make a donation of $2 or more to be uniform-free! You can also send in a lump sum to cover the remaining six Dress Down days (e.g., $2 x 6 = $12)! Pay online, or your scholar can bring cash.

Treat Yourself and SGE

Join SGE families for Spirit Night at YAFO Plaza Midwood (1331 Central Ave, Suite 101) on Monday, January 13th, anytime from 4:00-9:00pm! Build a bowl, mention SGE, and a percentage of your purchase will benefit Shamrock. Win-win.

School Improvement Team (SIT) Meeting

All SGE community members are welcome to attend the next SIT meeting on Wednesday, January 15th at 5:00pm. The meeting will likely be hybrid, taking place in the SGE Media Center but with a Zoom link also provided. Be part of the development of the School Improvement Plan (SIP), and engage in decisions that impact all scholars.

Spirit Outing with the Charlotte Checkers

Looking ahead: Our next spirit outing will be with the Charlotte Checkers! Join our SGE community to cheer on the Checkers hockey team on Sunday, February 23rd at 1:00pm at Bojangles Coliseum (2700 E. Independence Blvd). Tickets are only $23.36, and $5 from every ticket goes directly back to SGE. Buy your tickets now! (And remember to bring noise-canceling earmuffs for tots and any kiddos sensitive to LOUD noises.) After-school activities: A number of excellent organizations are partnering with SGE to provide voluntary after-school programs for our scholars. See more information here! We've included a chart of potential available activities, the days of the week they are held, and which grades are eligible to participate.
Visitor check-in: All visitors on campus (including basketball game attendees, after-school activity participants/volunteers, landscape workers, etc.) must sign in through the visitor check-in system, LobbyGuard, to be accounted for. This is a CMS security requirement. Visitors can save time by becoming a CMS volunteer in advance. Driver's licenses are required for adults.
